Ihkasen ensimmäinen You Tube videotutoriaalini - Aikun Ihana sukkatutoriaali

Starting the studies has slowed my crafting a bit, but in other had has brought something else in my life instead. Due to illness I was left alone to work on this group project in which we were supposed to analyze one's own or other member's of the group action. As I was my own group, I tried to find a best  and easiest way to analyze my self. Decided on learning to make a video with my webcam. So had to also learn how to edit and load the video on You Tube.

Jotta videosta ei olisi tullut mahottoman pitkää päätin neuloa videolla lähes varrettoman sukan, varttahan voi sit kukin tehdä haluamaansa pituuteen asti. Pääpointtina videolla on siis tavassa, jolla jaan kantapään silmukat kantakavennuksiin ja minun tapani nostaa silmukat kantalapun sivusta. Kerron myös koko hässäkän logiikkaa videolla tekemisen lomassa.

To keep the video as short as possible I decided to make the sock almost without the cuff, knitted only five rows of K2P2 ribbing to start with. You can always knit your cuff as long as you like. To point in this video is my own way of dividing the stitches for turning the heel ja the way I pick up the stitches along the sided of the heel flap. On the video I'm explaining my logic a bit (but only in Finnish - sorry about that my foreign friends here).

Lopputuloksena on tullut harvinaisen useaan jalkaan sopiva sukkamalli. Kärkikavennuksissa olen päätynyt useiden vaihtoehtojen viidakosta käyttämään nauhakavennusta, sillä siitä saan kaikkein siisteimmän, eikä kavennuskohtien viereen synny vastaavia reikiä, kun monen muun tyyppistä kärkeä tehdessä mulla on käynyt, ellen ole muistanut hurjasti lankaa kiristellä.

I've come up to knitting socks in my own way (with five needles - European way), because I'm so bad in following instructions on the dot and learning all needed measurements and stitch counts for different sizes of socks. I wanted to adapt all I've learned and make my own instructions keeping it simple as possible and functioning on any sock size. There are many ways of knitting the gusset - mine is very simple, you decrease stitches on every round instead of having simple rounds in between. The result is quite a comfortable heel on almost any foot. For the toe part decreases I've tried almost every method in the books and chose the one I'm using most of the times, because I've learned that the result is the neatest that way.

Käytössäni on Logitech HD Webcam c525, jolla saa teräviä still kuvia, mutta videota kuvatessani huomasin, ettei tuo tahdo pysyä liikkeessä mukana ja kuva on paikoin epäselvää - onneksi asia videolta kuitenkin selviää.

I'm using Logitech HD Webcam c525 with witch you can get sharp still images, but filming I learned it has difficulties  keeping up with the motion and the picture is quite blurred at times.

For editing I used Windows Live Movie Maker - note: editing is not something you love to do if You're even half as impatient as I am, not indeed. I got over two hours of raw material, the time in which I knit a sock from cuff to toes in my own size. After editing the video is still 37:11 in length. It took me six hours to edit, three hours to change the format in You Tube compatible form and another three hours to load up to You Tube, So it's not a quick thin to do. We'll see it it get's any easier and faster after learning some more.

Tässä kuitenkin lopputuotokseni (so here's the vid):

Kiitos!

Someday I might add a written instructions, should any of you request it - leave a comment if you do. Thanks for bearing with me!
